Japanese Domestic Mobile Phone Shipments Increased 6.4% in Fiscal 2005

According to JEITA, Japanese domestic mobile phones shipments, including car phones, reached 46.92 million units in the fiscal year 2005, which ended in March of 2006, representing 6.4% growth in comparison with the previous fiscal year. 3G handsets made up the majority of shipments, accounting for 78.6%. PHS handset shipments grew 150% to 1.74 million units.
